Create Turn Feature Class

Creates a new turn feature class to store turn features that model turning movements in a network dataset.

1.    Output Location

The file, personal, workgroup, or enterprise geodatabase, or the folder in which the output turn feature class will be created. The workspace must already exist.

2.    Output Turn Feature Class Name

The name of the turn feature class to be created.

3.    Maximum Edges (optional)

The maximum number of edges that turns in the new turn feature class can model. The default value is 5. The maximum value is 50.

4.    Input Network Dataset (optional)

The network dataset in which the turn feature class will participate. The resulting turn feature class will be added as a turn source to the network dataset. If no network dataset is specified, the turn feature class will be created as not participating in a network dataset.

5.    Template Feature Class (optional)

The feature class used as a template to define the attribute schema of the new turn feature class.

If the template feature class has the following fields, they are not created on the output turn feature class; NODE_, NODE#, JUNCTION, F_EDGE, T_EDGE, F-EDGE, T-EDGE, ARC1_, ARC2_, ARC1#, ARC2#, ARC1-ID, ARC2-ID, AZIMUTH, ANGLE.

6.    Spatial Reference (optional)

The spatial reference to be applied to the output turn feature class. This parameter is ignored if the output location is a geodatabase feature dataset, as the output turn feature class will inherit the spatial reference of the feature dataset.

7.    Has Z (optional)

  1. Checked—The coordinates in the new turn feature class will have elevation (Z) values. This parameter is automatically checked and disabled if the input network dataset is specified and it supports connectivity based on z coordinate values of the network sources.
  2. Unchecked—The coordinates in the new turn feature class will not have elevation (Z) values.

8.    Configuration Keyword (optional)

Specifies the configuration keyword that determines the storage parameters of the new turn feature class. This parameter is used only if the output location is an workgroup or enterprise geodatabase

9.    Output Spatial Grid 1 (optional)

This parameter has been deprecated in ArcGIS Pro. Any value you enter is ignored.

10. Output Spatial Grid 2 (optional)

This parameter has been deprecated in ArcGIS Pro. Any value you enter is ignored.

11. Output Spatial Grid 3 (optional)

This parameter has been deprecated in ArcGIS Pro. Any value you enter is ignored.

Increase Maximum Edges

Increases the maximum number of edges per turn in a turn feature class.

1.    Input Turn Feature Class

The turn feature class that is having its maximum number of edges raised.

2.    Maximum Edges

The new maximum number of edges in the input turn feature class. The value must be at least one higher than the existing maximum number of edges and cannot be greater than 50.

Populate Alternate ID Fields

Populate Alternate ID Fields

Creates and populates additional fields on the turn feature classes that reference the edges by alternate IDs. The alternate IDs allow for another set of IDs that can help maintain the integrity of the turn features in case the source edges are being edited.

1.    Input Network Dataset

The network dataset whose turn feature classes are to receive alternate ID fields. The fields will be created on all of the turn feature classes added as a turn source to the network dataset.

2.    Alternate ID Field Name

The name of the alternate ID field on the edge feature sources of the network dataset. All edge feature sources referenced by turns must have the same name for the alternate ID field.
